Hilton Head Beaches
The beaches of Hilton Head Island stretch for over 12 miles along
the Southern side of the Island. It is easily possible to walk from
one beach to another without even realizing that you have moved
from Driessen to Folly Field. So if in doubt, ask a local, the natural
Southern charm means we're only too happy to help.
All beaches on Hilton Head Island are public, and you'll see plenty
of people taking advantage, from the surfers at Burkes Beach to
the volleyball at Coligny, but there are some rules that apply to
all beaches in the town:
The following are forbidden:
Alcohol
Bottles and glassware
Litter
Motorized vehicles
Parasailing
Horseback riding
Shark fishing
Removing or disturbing and wild or plant life
Fires (except for cooking on liquid fuel stoves)
Fireworks
Nudity or topless bathing
The only place where you can legally drink alcohol is at the Tiki
Hut, part of the Holiday Inn Oceanfront on South Forest Beach.
The beaches are watched by Shore Beach Service, and they also have
deck chair rentals at various points along the beaches.
